The first time I walked into the house that hosts the Funky Jah Punkys’ weekly barbecue concert, SpongeBob SquarePants was playing on the TV. The next time, it was Scooby Doo. Seemingly odd associations for a band with songs titled “Fight the World” and “Third World War.” But that’s the FJPs’ secret....

The FunkyJahPunkys and their record label, Pacific Coast Pirates, hit the Las Vegas music scene less than a year ago, but have been running non-stop since. They have played just about every local venue in town, any night of the week, since their first day in town. Justin (Giant J), the front man of the band, has more energy than 3 other front men combined. He is all over the stage, all over the venue, and sometimes, even running out the front door with his wireless mic....

It was quite the crew we took up to Seattle to perform in front of 50,000
people at Seattle's HEMPFEST this year. Shane of XIL Records (which
sponsored a stage), my daughter Charlotte and I, and Vegas'
punk-funk-raggae band the FunkyJahPunkys & PcP crew all rolled into Seattle
around the same time. The FJPs....
